(Waukesha, Wis.) - The Carroll University men's soccer program, in its 18th year of existence, has a new scoring king. In a 4-0 win over Millikin University on Sunday, Sept. 6 in the Clash of the Titans Tournament hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University, Andy Prentice became Carroll's all-time leader in career points and goals. "Andy is one of the, if not the, truest strikers our program has ever had," said 11th-year head coach Rick Mobley. "He has worked his way from a seldom used player as a freshman in 2006 to a player that has made a name at the conference, regional and national level." Prentice, a 6-3 senior striker from Appleton, Wis. (Appleton West High School), set Carroll's career record in points and goals with his tally in the 55th minute versus Millikin. Joe Snyder, a three-year Pioneers soccer player from 2000-2002, previously held both career marks of 76 points and 32 goals. Snyder broke the records that before him were held by current nine-year assistant coach, Joe Sikora. Sikora tallied 75 points and 30 goals in a four-year career spanning 1995-1998. Since setting the records on Sept. 6, Prentice has added a goal against Marian on Sept. 9 to push his career totals to 81 points and 34 goals. "Andy has an opportunity to push his career totals to levels that may not be reached for quite some time," said Mobley. "While he has certainly made a name for himself for his ability to find the back of the net, more importantly to me, he has done so within the framework of team play. He has the ability to not only be effective, but to make others around him effective as well." Prentice holds the third and fifth best single season scoring totals in program history. He tallied 15 goals and five assists for 35 points in 2008 then netted 10 goals and dished out five assists for 25 points in 2007. Prentice contributed five goals and one assist as a freshman in 2006 and currently has four goals and two assists in the 2009 campaign. A ceremony with Prentice, Snyder and Sikora will take place prior to tonight's Carroll vs. Wisconsin Lutheran match. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. kickoff. 2009-2010 Men's Soccer Home Page
